a few of our Recurring initatives
Red bin Project
The Red Bin Project is a Community Outreach initiative that allows our community to sponsor red bins around the area for individuals to donate to. By supporting us, our sponsors serve as the bridge that provides more than just access to menstrual hygiene products. It is a semi-passive method of educating and engaging with the public, to forge lasting connections with community partners and expand the mission of Black Period(t). Project. Members of the community can provide monetary donations or donate a variety of products such as tampons, pads, wipes, and more to support this initiative.
If this is an initiative you would be interested in sponsoring, please contact our Community Outreach Team at outreach@blackperiodproject.org
P.A.D Rally walk
The Period Action Day (P.A.D) walk works to raise awareness of period poverty and the disparities menstruators face when accessing quality menstrual education and provisions. It is an annual event that peacefully protests against the NC Tampon Tax and menstrual health disparities. Members of the community show their support by participating in this annual walk, donating to our cause, and more. By educating these members of our community, we are raising our voices to be heard and addressing healthcare inequalities involving menstruation. Our goal is to encourage government action to bring justice to period poverty and to end the tampon tax.
Petition Party
Our annual Petition Party is an event that gets members of our community engaged with the mission and purpose of Black Period Project. It is hosted to gather signatures from members of our community who support the end of “Tampon Tax”. We want to advocate for bringing awareness of period poverty by having a space for this conversion within the community and encouraging our participants to sign the petition against period poverty. This is a social-political movement that not only educates the community but advocates for those who face menstrual tribulations.
